Retainers in Willis, TX

We help you protect your Stellar Smile for years to come with custom orthodontic retainers.

What do retainers do?

Your braces or clear aligners may be finished, but your smile journey isn’t quite over.

After orthodontic treatment, teeth naturally begin to shift over time. Retainers help hold them in their new positions and protect the beautiful results you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

At Stella Maris Orthodontics, Dr. Whitney provides custom retainers designed to fit comfortably and help preserve your smile for the long term.

Why Retainers Matter

Protect Your Results

Retainers help prevent unwanted tooth movement and preserve the alignment created during treatment.

Comfortable & Custom Fit

Every retainer is custom-made for your smile, helping ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

Made Right Here in Our Office

Using our in-house 3D printing technology, we can create custom retainers with precision and efficiency.

How long will I need to wear a retainer after braces or clear aligners?

To protect your new smile, we’ll recommend wearing your retainers full-time for two months immediately after active treatment.

Once that period is complete, you’ll only need to wear them at night. Dr. Whitney will provide instructions based on your unique smile and treatment plan.

The most important thing to remember? Retainers only work when they’re worn consistently.

Types of Orthodontic Retainers

Depending on your needs, Dr. Whitney may recommend:
  • Clear removable retainers that can be taken out for eating and brushing
  • Fixed (permanent) retainers that are bonded behind certain teeth for continuous support
  • A combination of both for additional stability
  • Or a hawley or wrap retainer (acrylic and metal)
During your appointment, we’ll discuss which option is best suited to your smile.

What happens if I lose my retainer?

If your retainer becomes lost, damaged, or no longer fits properly, contact our office as soon as possible.

Even a short time without your retainer can allow teeth to begin shifting. Because we create retainers in-house using advanced digital technology, we can help you get back on track quickly.

Caring for Your Retainers

A little daily care goes a long way.

To keep your retainers clean, clear, and working properly:

  • Rinse them whenever you remove them.
  • Brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and mild soap.
  • Avoid hot water, which can warp the material.
  • Store your retainers in their case when not in use.
  • Bring them to any retainer check-up appointments.
  • Avoid leaving retainers in napkins, hot cars, or anywhere pets can get ahold of them.
